Now let’s get into it, shall we? 🥰
🎶 Music moments of the month 🎶
(to distract me from the fact I didn’t make it to single date on Harry Styles’ UK tour 🥲)

🎤 This week, Beyonce finally graced us with her long-awaited musical return and released the *anti-capitalist* house anthem we’ve all been waiting for. Sorry, Drake – your new album was clearly no match for the Queen 👀👀
🎤 Kate Bush has soared to Number One in the charts with her song ‘Running Up That Hill’, 37 years after it was initially released 🤯 The song exploded on TikTok after it was used in the new series of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
In a radio interview, Kate Bush said ‘the thought of all these really young people hearing the song for the first time and discovering it is really special’
🎤 Pop star Lizzo issued a statement and changed a lyric in her new song Grrrls after she received almostimmediate backlash on social media for using an ableist slur in the song.
Some are still questioning how the lyric ended up in the song in the first place, but others are pleased with the lyric change and rerelease, with many believing it to be an example of someone listening, learning and acting on new information. (Plus, it’s a great example of the power of social media being used for positive change!)
Speaking of social media power…
📱The power of TikTok was proven yet again when Binley Mega Chippy went viral on the platform (and then everywhere else) this month 😆
📱As one internet legend is born, another leaves us forever 💔 y2k icon, Internet Explorer, has been officially retired.
In last month’s DL we talked about eBay sponsoring Love Island this year.
Since then, fast-fashion brand, Missguided, (fashion sponsor of Love Island back in 2018) has gone into administration.
Could Gen Z be officially falling out of love with fast fashion? 🤔
Love Island is still a hit with young audiences (with meme after meme surfacing online during each episode) but a survey last year showed that 85% of 16-24 year olds think that the show creates unrealistic standards for body image 🙁
💷 The cost of living crisis continues. Around half of UK Gen Zs (48%) and Millennials (54%) say they’re living pay-day to pay-day and worry that their monthly income will not be able to cover all their expenses.
💷 There is a huge increase in demand for pay rises to keep up with inflation. 80% of Gen Z workers have their eye on their next job, with nearly half on the hunt for more money.
💷 According to a new report, 42% of Gen Zs and 39% of millennials now have a side hustle to make ends meet.
